Tim Robbins, 62, files for divorce from his ‘secret wife’ Gratiela Brancusi… three years after they started their romance

  • The Oscar-winner has divorced marketing executive Gratiela Brancusi despite never going public with their marriage
  • It is not clear when Robbins, 62, and Brancusi married, though the pair were first linked in February 2018
  • This was the first marriage for Robbins, who was with his previous partner Susan Sarandon for 23 years

Hollywood actor Tim Robbins has filed for divorce from his Romanian-born wife Gratiela Brancusi, a marketing executive, despite having never made the marriage public in the first place.

The 62-year-old Bull Durham actor filed papers in a Los Angeles court house on Wednesday, TMZ reports, though it is unclear exactly when he secretly tied the knot with his much-younger partner.

The Oscar-winner, who is best known for movies such as The Shawshank Redemption and The Player, famously never married his partner of more than 23 years, Susan Sarandon.

It is not clear how old his ex-wife Brancusi is, thought it appears that she would not be too much older than his two children, Miles, 28, and John ‘Jack’ Henry, 31, whom he shares with Sarandon, 74.

According to the report, Robbins does not state when he and Brancusi got married, but it does state the former couple do not have any children together.

Robbins was first seen with Brancusi in 2018 at the premiere of his HBO show Here And Now, a drama the lasted just one season after dismal ratings and reviews.

Following their red carpet debut as a couple, the pair continued to attend events together in 2019 suggesting that their romance was going from strength to strength, though there were never any reports of an engagement.

Arm in arm: And then in 2019 the pair continued to look happy at red carpet events

Theymet through work: Gratiela works as a marketing coordinator for The Actors’ Gang Theater in Brooklyn, New York. Tim is a part of The Actors’ Gang Theater which was founded in 1981. Seen in 2019

In November 2019 at the Dark Waters premiere in New York, the beauty – whose full name is Ioana Gratiela Brancusi – wore a diamond engagement ring.

Gratiela works as a marketing coordinator for The Actors’ Gang Theater in Brooklyn, New York. Tim is a part of The Actors’ Gang Theater which was founded in 1981.

She landed her first job in 2009 as a production assistant at Emag!c Concerts, according to her Linkedin page.

Tim began dating Sarandon after co-starring in the 1988 drama Bull Durham; they stayed together for 20 years and never wed but had two sons together.

They split for good in 2009, and Sarandon told The Telegraph in 2010 that ‘if you didn’t get married you wouldn’t take each other for granted as easily.’

They were an ‘it’ couple: The movie and theater star is best known for his decades long romance with Susan Sarandon; seen in 2008

She then said, ‘I don’t know if after twentysomething years that was still true.’

And she added fans were upset after news broke she parted ways with Tim.

‘People were coming up to me in the street and saying, “I cried and cried when I heard.” Well, I was sadder! I didn’t think it would ever happen, either. You bring people into your life at certain times. Maybe you have a relationship to have children and you realize that it’s fulfilled after that point.’

A classic movie people still love: Robbins with Morgan Freeman in 1994’s The Shawshank Redemption
