The Real Reason Kel Mitchell Decided To Do Dancing With The Stars – Exclusive

Kel Mitchell is back on our screens for Season 2 of MTV’s Deliciousness, but the actor and comedian has been a fan favorite since starring on Nickelodeon’s All That, Kenan & Kel, and in Good Burger in the ’90s. Plus, Mitchell gave an unforgettable performance on Season 28 of Dancing with the Stars when he came in second place with his professional dance partner, Witney Carson.

As well as filming a second season of Deliciousness alongside Saved by the Bell‘s Tiffani Thiessen and The Office‘s Angela Kinsey, Mitchell has several projects in the works. “There’s a ton of artists and directors I would love to work with next. But right now … we want to make sure everybody checks out Deliciousness, the second season,” Mitchell told Nicki Swift. “Also, during this time of quarantine, I also worked on a book, so I have a book coming out too.”

Even though his stint on Dancing with the Stars is over, it’s clear that the show had quite an impact on the actor. Nicki Swift caught up with Mitchell to find out all about his time on Dancing with the Stars and the real reason he decided to compete.

Kel Mitchell caught 'dance fever'

As the runner-up of Dancing with the Stars Season 28, Kel Mitchell has proven on multiple occasions that he has some serious dance moves. “I have dance fever, and that’s why I did it in the first place, because I was just like, ‘Oh, this is the perfect thing for me,'” Mitchell told Nicki Swift. “I love to dance, but of course, this was like ballroom, so it was a lot to take in and digest.”

Mitchell ultimately lost out to The Bachelorette‘s Hannah Brown, but his decision to take part in the competition forged a lasting friendship. “We were doing five to six hours a day of rehearsals, but Witney [Carson] just made it amazing. And Witney’s part of the family now,” Mitchell explained. “Shout out to her. She just had a baby boy, and me and my wife just had a baby boy too. … We’ve got to get them together, to go hang out and dance, make a dance group or something.”

While it was his “dance fever” that convinced him to do the show in the first place, Dancing with the Stars gave Mitchell a sense of confidence he didn’t have before. “Dancing with the Stars was an amazing experience,” Mitchell said. “I had confidence already, but it took it to a whole ‘nother confidence. When you’re wearing see-through shirts and glitter everywhere and dancing, it gives you a whole different confidence.”

Deliciousness airs weekdays at 7/6c.
