The One Show’s Alex Jones wears pretty blue dress at Chelsea Flower show

The One Show presenter Alex Jones oozed elegance as she attended the press and preview day of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on Monday.

The Welsh BBC star, 45, wore a light blue lace number from Self Portrait as she visited the displays with her husband Charlie Thomson.

The summery dress had puffy sleeves, a bow and a sheer lace overskirt, which she paired with pointy white heels.

The mum-of-three wore her brown hair in a shoulder length bob swept to the side.

Her husband Charlie, a New Zealand insurance broker, admired the displays wearing a blue blazer, pink shirt and beige chinos.

The couple were enjoying the outing just weeks after their toddler son Kit had surgery.

Alex has two other children Teddy, four, and Annie, six months old.

On 6 May, the presenter revealed that she endured the “longest morning of her life” after she waited for two year old Kit to come out from theatre for a routine surgery.

She shared a picture of an empty hospital bed on Instagram and wrote: “Waiting for my little Kit to come back from theatre after a very routine op but feels like the longest morning of my life!”

Alex had only returned to The One Show in January after taking maternity leave to look after Annie, and revealed that her husband Charlie took paternity leave upon her return.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is a five day event in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London, which begins today.

Scores of celebrities visit the garden show, which has been running since 1912, to admire garden designs and floral creations.

Dame Judi Dench, Myleene Klass and Amanda Holden have been pictured attending day one.

This year’s event has already been shrouded by drama on its first day as TV chef Ainsley Harriott saved his sister from drowning in a water feature.

The 65 year old helped his sister Jacqueline when she tripped and fell at the show.

DIY SOS host Nick Knowles was said to have witnessed the incident.

One witness toldThe Sun: "The garden was packed with lots of people and I think the woman must have fallen into the pond or tripped over and ended up in the water.

"I think she nearly drowned. She was pulled out by Ainsley Harriott and some other celebrities before they laid her down on the floor.

“She was coughing up lots of water."

Luckily, Ainsley confirmed that his sister was “doing fine” after the fall.

He tweeted: “Just a big thank you to everyone who helped my sister when she had a fall at the Chelsea Flower Show this morning.

“She’s doing fine and all is well”
