Sue Lyon, the star of Lolita, has sadly passed away.
The 78-year-old actress’ death was confirmed by friend Phil Syracopoulos, who told the NY Times that she had been in “declining health.”
Sue was just 14-year-old and only had two acting credits to her name when she beat out 800 other actresses for the lead role in Stanley Kubrick‘s 1962 adaptation of Lolita. The controversial story depicted a pedophile’s relationship with a 12-year-old girl.
She went on to appear in Night of the Iguana, 7 Women and several other films. She most recently appeared in 1980′s Alligator.
Our thoughts are with Sue‘s family and friends during this difficult time.
