Piers Morgan, 56, is up for the Best Presenter award alongside the likes of Holly Willoughby, Bradley Walsh, Alison Hammond and Ant and Dec, who have won the gong for 19 consecutive years. Taking to Twitter today, the presenter couldn’t help but take a swipe at Meghan Markle, 40, as he reacted to his nomination.
The journalist shared a picture of the category, in view of his 7.9 million followers.
He wrote: “Most amused to finally be nominated for TV Presenter of the Year at the @OfficialNTAs – though could be a tad #awks for ITV if I win for my work on @GMB.
“Might have to pull a Brando and send Princess Pinocchio along to receive it on my behalf.”(sic)
He has used the moniker to insult Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle on numerous occasions.
He left Good Morning Britain in March after sparking over 57,000 Ofcom complaints for comments he made about her.
The father-of-four said he didn’t believe a word she said during the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Meghan said she felt suicidal during her time in the Royal Family and claimed she was refused help.
She and Harry also claimed that an unnamed member of the family had “concerns” about the colour of Archie’s skin.
Ofcom later confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex was one of those who complained about his comments, which he said on Good Morning Britain.
Following his departure from the show, the journalist said he had to “agree to disagree” with ITV as he refused to apologise.
He later said: “ITV didn’t get rid of me. I left GMB because I declined to apologise for disbelieving Princess Pinocchio.”
Before he left the show, Piers clashed with Alex Beresford about the topic.

The latter explained why Meghan’s interview resonated with him as he touched upon his own personal experiences of “covert and overt” racism in the workplace.
Piers then pointed out that the conversation was the reason he’d asked Alex to appear on the show.
And while the weather presenter thanked him for that, he warned Piers about the “power of his words” when it came to criticising the royals.
The conversation swiftly got heated as Alex continued to confront his co-star about his hate towards Meghan, which prompted him to storm off set.
The Good Morning Britain presenter went for a drink with Meghan in 2016 and claims she later ghosted him.
Piers’ wife Celia Walden addressed their meet-up in her column earlier this year.
In a swipe at the mother-of-two, she wrote: “Apparently Piers’ stance can be boiled down to his ‘unrequited love’ for Me-gain, ever since she contacted him in 2016 and, clearly thinking he could be of use to her, asked him out for a drink before ghosting him when she moved on to bigger and better things.”
