Ree Drummond's Thanksgiving Breakfast Casserole Is a Lifesaver, According to Reviewers

Picture this: The entire Thanksgiving menu is planned and the food’s prepped. All that’s left to do is wake up on Thursday morning and assemble the feast. But then one thought creeps in, what about breakfast? Enter Ree Drummond’s Thanksgiving Breakfast Casserole. The celebrity chef has many Pioneer Woman Thanksgiving recipes but this will make breakfast ridiculously easy.

Ree Drummond’s Thanksgiving Breakfast Casserole combines sweet and savory in 1 dish

Breakfast on Thanksgiving morning often gets overlooked. After all, dinner is the main event and no one wants to dirty the kitchen making breakfast when there’s lots of cooking to be done.

So what’s on the menu? Drummond’s Thanksgiving Breakfast Casserole. According to Food Network, she combines sweet and savory flavors using ingredients such as cinnamon raisin English muffins, apples, sausage, and cheese.

Best of all, It’s a make-ahead dish that’s hearty enough to serve alone. Simply prep it the night before and put it in the oven in the morning. Or, for those who need the oven for turkey, bake the casserole in advance and reheat it when it’s time for breakfast.

What reviewers have to say about the Pioneer Woman’s Thanksgiving Breakfast Casserole

The reviews are in and nearly everyone who has made Drummond’s Thanksgiving bake at home loves it. At the time of publication, the Super Easy cookbook author’s recipe has been reviewed more than 30 times on Food Network’s website. In addition, it has an average rating of 4.5 stars.

So what did reviewers think of it? One reviewer called it a “lifesaver for Thanksgiving.” It “gave me time to focus on making the dishes for the big day!” they wrote. Others noted how it went over well with guests. “This recipe is amazing and it received RAVE reviews by all,” a reviewer said. “We just finished Thanksgiving Brunch and this was a HIT!  It was a delicious blend of savory and sweet,” wrote another.

Modifications to the Food Network star’s breakfast casserole are OK, according to reviewers

Don’t want to bother with letting Drummond’s Thanksgiving Breakfast Casserole sit in the fridge overnight before baking? That’s fine. According to reviewers who skipped this step of the recipe, it didn’t impact the taste. “The whole thing is already almost gone after one breakfast,” a reviewer said.

Others advised modifications such as halving the recipe and using a different type of English muffins besides cinnamon raisin. No matter what the change, almost every reviewer who tweaked the Thanksgiving Breakfast Casserole ended up pleased with the final dish.

“I was in charge of cooking the entire Thanksgiving weekend for my VERY picky fam,” a reviewer wrote. Drummond’s breakfast bake “was so popular, the leftovers were scarfed up on Friday morning.”
