Ulrika Jonsson’s eldest daughter is today leaving home to work as a nanny overseas. The presenter shared her heartache on Instagram as she bid barewell to Bo Eva Coeur, 21.
This damp, drizzly morning brings a bit of heartache
The 53-year-old recalled her offspring “clinging to life” as a youngster in the heartbreaking message.
Speaking out in view of her 154,000 followers, the television star shared a series of images of her second child.
She said she was “full of pride” for her little girl as she tried to adapt to her leaving home.
Ulrika was soon inundated with messages from understanding fans, and well wishes.
“This damp, drizzly morning brings a bit of heartache,” she started.
“Bid farewell to this beautiful creature as she heads abroad to nanny for families for 2 1/2 months.”
The mother-of-four said it will be the longest they’ve ever been apart and with the most distance between them.
Ulrika continued: “You carry them for 9 months; hold them tight as they cling to you for survival.
“Slowly, bit by bit, you ease your grip and let them toddle. Then they run – at their own pace and along the path of their own race – and before you know it they are the creators of their own life.”
She said that while children eventually depend on their parents less, they still “need” you.
The former weather host then wrote: “You stand willingly on the sidelines, waiting patiently for the moment they turn to you for guidance, reassurance, affirmations of love but mostly money.
“And you both enjoy your newly found freedoms but the connection between you is unbreakable.
“It’s as solid as the day you first set eyes on each other. The love never fades.”
Ulrika said the pair had naturally found new ways of being mother and daughter.
She signed off: “My bond with this one is particular because it was just her and me for much of the time and because she was born broken and clinging onto life.
“Not sure how I’ll cope without you Bo Eva Coeur. But my heart is as full of pride and excitement about your impending adventure, as it is with longing and sorrow. Ta léme sŷntoma.”
Bo, whose father is German hotel manager Marcus Kempen, has a congenital heart defect and had to undergo life-saving surgery as a baby.
Ulrika has four children – son Cameron, 26, from her marriage with cameraman John Turnbull between 1990 and 1995.
She shares Martha, 17, with her second husband, Rufus Wright’s brother Lance Gerrard-Wright.
Her youngest is Malcolm, 13, with third husband, advertising executive Brian Monet. The pair divorced in 2019.
