Married At First Sight star, Bronson Norrish, 35, has claimed that he was “absolutely drained” following his three week stint in the Australian reality series. In an exclusive chat with Express.co.uk, the stripper turned entrepreneur admitted that even though he “pushed through ” filming and the breakdown of his marriage to Ines Basic, 30, another week on the show would have “destroyed” him.

Following his disastrous first meeting with his soon-to-be-bride, legal assistant Ines, things went from bad to worse for the Western Australian as his marriage collapsed surrounding cheating allegations.

The period after their honeymoon was no better and the couple chose to stay in separate rooms rather than living together.

Bronson said: “Mentally I was drained, absolutely drained, I couldn’t have lasted another day I think.

“I’m lucky enough to be strong enough to push through it.

“I would hate to see anyone else in that situation that wasn’t quite prepared for it or with the right mental state to get through what I did, as it was absolutely atrocious.”

He continued: “I pride myself on being big enough to push through it, but I couldn’t have done it for another week, it would have destroyed me.”

Bronson realised on day three of the honeymoon that this marriage wasn’t going to last.

Following the hard to watch scenes on a boat trip, which the Perth native had set up as a way to bond, Ines cruelly joked that she’d be happy to see the back of her beau for good.

She said: “I think you should go up on your own,” after her husband offered to parasail with her.

After refusing, Ines continued: “I’ll watch you, and if anyone has a knife so I can cut the rope, watch Bronson sail away into the sky…”

Speaking about the scene, Bronson acknowledged that it was this moment which made him realise Ines was not the one for him.

He said: “I think you can tell with someone straight away whether it’s going to work or not, and I think you can definitely tell from that it was going to go nowhere from there.

“I was devastated. I went in there for the right reasons.”

Bronson continued: “I wanted to find love and find someone to share the experience with, and come out the right side, but I was devastated when I found out who I was paired with.”

Ines embarked on an illicit relationship with tradie Sam Ball, 27, while still married to Bronson and taking part in the experiment.

Sam was married to Elizabeth Sonhinoff, 29, at the time, before both couples left the same week following a tumultuous commitment ceremony where the cheating scandal was finally outed.

Bronson previously spoke about how a friend signed him up to appear in the reality show, following the break down of a serious relationship.

In a surprising reveal, the party boat owner also claimed to not have seen the show until he was on his way to his wedding.

He added: “I had never watched the show before, never heard of Married At First Sight and I didn’t even know about it until I watched an episode while flying across to my wedding.

“I finally decided to watch one of the episodes and I couldn’t believe what I’d got myself into.”
