Love Island’s Maura Higgins and Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn have tense conversation at TV Choice Awards before leaving bash hand-in-hand

Love Island star Maura Higgins and Coronation Street actress Katie McGlynn were seen having an animated conversation as they left the 2019 TV Choice Awards on Monday night.

The reality TV star, 28, and soap star, 26, were seen leaving the star-studded awards ceremony alongside Maura’s beau Curtis Pritchard and their co-star Chris Taylor.

However, Katie, who plays Sinead Tinker on the ITV soap, appeared to be having a tense conversation with the men stood at their side.

Sporting a stunning blue long-sleeve dress, Katie was seen pointing towards Maura during the conversation, with Chris later seen putting his arm on the Irish beauty to comfort her.

Things seemed a lot calmer towards the end of the night, however, with new friends Katie and Maura leaving the bash at London’s Hilton Park Lane Hotel hand-in-hand.

A source revealed to MailOnline: “There was no row. Katie was trying to help calm a situation and help Maura and Curtis get outside.”

Maura and Curtis made a loved-up appearance at this year’s bash after the couple opened up on the status of their relationship.

Appearing alongside each other during their first interview together on This Morning, the loved-up duo confirmed they are yet to make things official with their romance.

Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield urged the pair to make their relationship official, but Curtis said he was not going to ask Maura to be his girlfriend live on TV.

Philip asked the pair: “Are you officially girlfriend and boyfriend… what is the status of your relationship?"

An awkward Curtis smiled and answered: “You've caught me off guard here."

He added: "I'm really happy with how this is going, I haven't asked her to be my girlfriend."

Holly continued to prod: “Not even half-girlfriend?”, referring to Curtis asking Amy Hart to be his half-girlfriend in the villa.

Curtis replied: "No, and I am not going to do it on TV because I don't want to make it a public thing. If I'm going to do it, it's going to be in private."

Phil then told Curtis he was “old-fashioned", before Maura jokingly declared: "You weren't old-fashioned in the villa!"

Holly then asked Maura if she would like to move to the next relationship stage with Curtis, with both the Irish beauty and the professional dancer agreeing that they would like to become an official item.

Holly and Phil appeared perplexed that they hadn’t made the relationship step yet and Phil simply said: “Then do it."

He continued: "Just be boyfriend and girlfriend then. If it was ever going to happen on any TV show. It's our 10 year anniversary tomorrow.”

The pair’s appearance on This Morning comes after they were hit with rumours of a split and they used the opportunity to address reports that they knew each other before entering the villa this summer.

Reports previously stated the couple would “regularly see one another” on the set of Dancing With The Stars Ireland, because Curtis worked on the show and Maura worked for the show's brand ambassador, Bellamianta.

A judge on the show, Brian Redmond, told The Mirror: “I believe Maura had been out a few times to watch the show and apparently she and Curtis had cast eyes at each other across a busy dance floor years ago.

“She knows the show and being with Curtis she obviously knows what it involves. It would be great to have her on but probably not this year.”

However, on This Morning Curtis insisted they had “never met” – despite him sliding into the Irish beauty’s DMs before the show.

Both replied with a firm “no” when asked by Holly and Phil if they knew each other, while Curtis added: “We will have been in the same building but never saw her. Maura then said they had “never bumped into each other”.
