Lorraine Kelly, 60, said she thought somebody was in her home after hearing a noise from her living room in the early hours of the morning. As she went to investigate, she realised her dog Angus had accidentally lent on the remote and switched the television on.
Honestly it was so bizarre and I of course couldn’t get back to sleep
Speaking to Good Morning Britain presenters Susanna Reid and Adil Ray, she described the encounter as a “bizarre experience”.
She said: “It was about half past two, the lights all went on and it was really, really noisy and I thought somebody was having a party in my house.
“And when I went into the living room, Angus had put his head on the remote control and put the telly on, it’s the weirdest thing.
“Honestly it was so bizarre and I of course couldn’t get back to sleep, so thank you Angus.”
Her admission prompted one of her 644,000 Twitter followers to share their experience.
They commented: “@reallorraine @GMB @lorraine when I was 7 months pregnant and home alone.
“My cat sat on the remote control switched on the tv in the middle of the night. Nearly gave birth that night!”
Lorraine replied: “Glad I’m not the only one! Honestly you couldn’t make it up.”
Another wrote: “My daughters laptop rebooted at 3am and auto started her science homework video full volume….. and the lid was closed gave us all heart attack.”(sic)
The presenter regularly gives fans an insight into her life at home on Instagram.
Earlier this month, she shared a picture of her dog ahead of an episode of Line Of Duty.
She commented: “Angus is very excited waiting for @bbclineofduty to start.
