Country rap star Lil Nas X extended his record reign over the Billboard Hot 100 chart, as his “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, remained atop the chart for the 19th week.
Two weeks ago, the track broke the record for the most weeks atop the chart, overtaking the previous record of 16 weeks held by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men‘s “One Sweet Day” and Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber.
This week, “Old Town Road” also broke the record for the most weeks atop Billboard‘s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts. The song now has dominated the charts for a record-breaking 19th week each.
On Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, the track bests the 18-week domination of Drake‘s “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla, in 2016.
On Hot Rap Songs, the song trumped the 18-week reign of Drake’s “Hotline Bling”; Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy,” featuring Charli XCX; and Missy Elliott‘s “Hot Boyz,” featuring NAS, EVE and Q-Tip.
“Old Town Road” previously broke the record for the most weekly streams for any song ever. It recorded 143 million streams in the week ending April 20, according to Nielsen Music.
