Lady A‘s “Champagne Night” rose 4-1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart dated January 9, earning the band its 11th No. 1 on the list.
According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, “Champagne Night” logged 26.6 million audience impressions in the tracking week ending January 3, up 26.6% from a week earlier.
Lady A appeared on the second-season premiere of NBC‘s songwriting competition series “Songland,” which aired April 13, 2020.
The band, consisting of Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott, and co-producer of the single Shane McAnally reworked “I’ll Drink to That,” the winning song of the episode, and changed its title to “Champagne Night.”
“This has been a special song for us for so many reasons,” Scott told Billboard about the song. “We loved it so much that it became a single: the first-ever radio single to be released from Songland.”
She added, “So, for the fans to love it as much as we do and for it now to be at No. 1, it feels like the best way to celebrate the first week of the new year.”
Lady A has now scored multiple No. 1s on the chart in each of the last three decades.
