Kate Middleton is a vision in green in Leeds to mark early years campaign launch

Kate Middleton cut a stylish figure on a trip to Leeds as the mum-of-three launched her new early childhood campaign.

The Princess of Wales arrived in Leeds where she's talking to students at the University of Leeds who are studying childhood studies.

However, her first engagement is at the city’s Kirkgate Market. Kate has been chatting with its vendors and other members of the public about their own early childhood experiences as she received a tour of the market.

After the market, the senior royal will make her way over to the university.

For her outing in the northern city, Kate, 41, was a vision in green and wore a stunning, longline green jacket paired with an off-white knee-length jumper dress and brown boots.

She wore her brunette tresses in her statement loose curls and completed her ensemble with a small green bag.

The senior royal is out and about today to promote her new campaign, Shaping Us. The project from The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood “aims to transform the issue from one of scientific interest to one of the most strategically important topics of our time”.

The Princess of Wales spearheaded the campaign with the support from several high-profile figures.

The campaign was officially launched today, and Kate has labelled it as her “life’s work”.

In a speech made last night at Bafta’s London HQ ahead of the launch, the princess said: “The campaign is fundamentally about shining a spotlight on the critical importance of early childhood and how it shapes the adults we become.

“During this time we lay the foundations and building blocks for life."

She went on: "And it is when we learn to understand ourselves, understand others and understand the world in which we live.

“This is why it is essential to not only understand the unique importance of our earliest years, but to know what we can all do to help raise future generations of happy, healthy adults.”

Attending last night’s event was Rochelle Humes and her nine year old daughter Alaia-Mai, who was overjoyed to be greeted by Kate.

Dressed up for the occasion, Alaia-Mai looked stunning as she sported a chic floral print dress with high neck collar and lace trim detail, with a trendy brown coat helping her to stave off the Winter chill as she arrived at the event.

Rochelle meanwhile was dressed in a complimentary shade of chocolate brown as she donned a silky maxi dress complete with long sleeves.

With both mother and daughter dressed to impress, Alaia-Mai couldn’t hide her joy as she was able to meet with Kate, with the youngster seen grinning from ear to ear as she shook hands with the senior royal.

Prince William was also there, and could be seen bending down to chat to Rochelle’s eldest daughter.
