This Morning's Josie Gibson went viral this week when she fell in a lake live on TV, but her return to dry land wasn't much of a triumph as viewers complained about her "cringe" life hacks.

Josie, 36, is usually out on location for the ITV show, but joined Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary in the studio on Friday morning to show off her best life hacks to save time and effort around the home.

However, she left viewers confused and Alison and Dermot in hysterics over her tips and tricks which were underwhelming for some.

Josie's low-key advice included propping a wooden spoon in the end of a pan handle, fixing a paperclip to the end of a roll of sellotape, and balancing a McDonalds takeaway box over a drink with a straw to create a "table".

As she showed her trick for fitting a pair of tights over the end of a hoover to stop earring backs disappearing inside of the hoover, Dermot couldn't understand the need for the trick.

He asked: "Why can't you just pick it up? Genuine question, I'm not being sarcastic."

But he laughed along with co-host Alison as the hacks got even sillier and Josie asked: "Are you getting bored of this now?"

One viewer tweeted: "Is there a 5 year old in charge of production today? The hacks segment was just utter cringe #ThisMorning "

Someone else added: "Josie’s hacks are absolutely crap #ThisMorning "

Another viewer commented: "As @radioleary just said this can’t actually be an item #thismorning#hacks "

Other fans of the show were sure they'd watched the same tricks before.

One viewer tweeted: " #ThisMorning these hacks are that old, they were around when Richard and Judy were doing This Morning"

Another added: "I’ve seen these hacks before, yawn! #ThisMorning "

On Thursday's show, Josie took a dramatic fall into Caversham Lakes in Reading live on-air as she presented a competition link from a floating obstacle course.

Presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield cried with laughter as she was hauled out of the water, showing her bottom to the camera in a Bridget Jones-style moment as she clambered back onto the inflatable.

Holly told her: "Oh my god, I think that was my favourite moment of yours ever."
