Sky News presenter Jacquie Beltrao, 55, has taken to social media to reveal her new Olympic-inspired tattoo. The former gymnast told how she was inspired by Team GB diver Tom Daley and US gymnast Simone Biles to get the five Olympic rings tattooed on her shoulder, 37 years after competing in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.
What can I say I was feeling rebellious
The former GB gymnast took to Twitter to show her 84,700 followers the very moment she was inked.
Showing off her new ink on her right shoulder, the beaming newsreader stood proudly next to her Olympic games certificate of recognition which hung on her wall.
Jacquie had pulled her green patterned top off her shoulder to reveal a black tattoo of the five Olympic rings neatly inked on her back.
She wrote: “Well @TomDaley1994 has one @Simone_Biles has one so inspired by @Tokyo2020 I got some Olympic ink of my own – just 37 years after LA ‘84 !
“What can I say I was feeling rebellious (yes I know I should act my age but I don’t want to),” (sic) Jacquie added.
She added the hashtag, “#onceanolympianalwaysanolympian”, a UK flag and tagged @TeamGB.
In a following tweet, the star gave her fans a glimpse into her time under the tattoo gun.
Sitting in a chair, the tattoo artist was hard at work on Jacquie’s back.
Grinning through the pain, Jacquie said: “It sort of hurts a bit, but it’s alright. I’m going to see this though now.
“I’m such a baby,” Jacquie could be heard saying as the video ended.
She added the caption: “It’s taken 37 years but I got inspired by @tokyo2020 #ink.”
She continued: “It barely hurt at all!!!
“My first and only tattoo – Inspired by @Tokyo2020 made at LA ‘84 #olympicrings.”
Team GB diver Tom got the Olympic rings tattooed on his upper arm nearly 10 years ago as a reminder of his success in the London 2012 Olympics.
The then 18-year-old won a bronze medal in the Olympic 10m men’s platform event.
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles also has the Olympic rings tattooed on her right forearm which, like Jacquie, was her very first tattoo back in 2017 that she got to celebrate her first Olympic Games in 2016.
Jacquie competed in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles where she represented Great Britain in rhythmic gymnastics and finished 31st in the All-Around.
Last month the star told how she competed in the games during a time of “huge personal tragedy”.
Posting a sunny snap of herself stretching in the sun, the star showcased her impressive yoga skills.
Jacquie penned: “I competed in the 1984 Games in LA [Los Angeles].”
She went on to add: “[I] didn’t win was never ever going to win but I cherish the achievement of qualifying at a time of huge personal tragedy and making @TeamGB — me the daughter of a bus conductor.”(sic)
