Gemma Atkinson, 36, took to social media today to assure fans that she is not suffering from Covid. It comes after the Hits Radio DJ presenter shared a video on Instagram yesterday, saying she believed she was suffering from laryngitis.
The former Emmerdale actress explained that she was not feeling unwell and had no other symptoms, but was sent home from her radio gig yesterday.
Gemma was unable to present her daily drive time show with co-host Wes Butters as she had lost her voice.
But the mum-of-one has now addressed concerned fans who urged the presenter to self-isolate.
However, Gemma confirmed that she does not have Covid and would be able to return to work.
Taking to her Instagram stories, the presenter revealed she had deleted an earlier post confirming her diagnosis, due to the number of messages she had been receiving on social media.
In view of her 1.7 million followers, Gemma confirmed: “Haven’t got Covid.
“It’s just a chest infection. Starting antibiotics today.”
She continued: “Taken my post down explaining this as loads of people are messaging saying it could still be Covid and I should isolate.
“I’ve had tests and the doctor has confirmed I have a chest infection.”
The TV presenter explained that she suffered from coronavirus earlier this year but has since recovered.
“I know Covid is s**t,” Gemma went on, “I had it last March and it was awful.”
She added: “I understand that some people are worried about it. But other bugs are about too, especially at this time of year.”

“Back to work tomorrow,” Gemma finished.
In an earlier post, the Hits Radio DJ told fans that she was feeling OK but had a cough and a sore throat.
The former Hollyoaks star initially believed it was laryngitis – a condition that affects the vocal cords and the voice box becoming swollen.
Gemma said: “Just got into work and I’m having to go home because obviously, it’s my job to speak on the radio,” she explained.
“And Wes was like, ‘You sound like a seal. Go Home.’
“So Wes is riding solo today. Hopefully back in tomorrow. We’ll see.”
Earlier in the day, Gemma reached out to her social media followers for home remedies.
She is hoping to return to her regular work duties tomorrow for her drivetime show on Hits Radio at 4pm.
