‘Distraught’ Travis Scott cancels next show after 8 die in Astroworld tragedy

Travis Scott has cancelled his performance at the Day N Vegas Festival, according to reports.

The 30 year old rapper is said to be “too distraught” to perform after eight people died while attending his Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas over the weekend.

It has also been reported by Variety that Travis will be providing full refunds for all attendees at the Vegas festival.

The musician, who is also said to be absolutely devastated by what happened at Astroworld, was scheduled to perform during the festival on Sunday 13 November.

It was scheduled to take place on the Las Vegas Festival Grounds and concertgoers were able to buy general admission tickets.

There also weren’t any assigned seats – which is the same as the set-up of the Astroworld event.

OK! has contacted a representative for Travis Scott for comment.

The eight people who tragically died during Travis’s show on Friday ranged in ages between 14 and 27.

The horrific incident occurred at 9.38pm Houston time – 32 minutes after the set began, when a crowd of 50,000 people surged towards the stage.

Eight fans passed away during a "mass casualty incident" at the event, including a 16 year old girl and a 14 year old boy.

While Travis’ show was stopped thirty minutes before schedule, it is reported the set ended 30 minutes after the fire department had declared the incident a “mass casualty event”.

The crowd were also said to be heard chanting “stop the show” as people were suffering cardiac arrests during Travis’s tracks.

It comes as the Astroworld Festival resulted in another stampede that sent three people to hospital two years earlier.

Local police organised for more police in the lead up to the concert eight days ago, and organisers Live Nation hired extra security.

Despite extra security, hordes of desperate fans barrelled through security barriers at the VIP gates on Friday night.

Travis Scott has declined to comment on the specifics of the incident but said he is co-operating with the police investigation.
