Diana Dors’ youngest son Jason Dors has died at the age of 50, it has been confirmed.
Jason, who was best known for starring in films like South Kensington Mad Dogs and Englishmen, as well as Dot Kill, died just days after celebrating his 50th birthday on 11 September.
The sad news was announced on Sunday morning with a statement posted on Facebook group Diana Dors: The Legacy.
It said: ‘Good morning, it saddens me to inform you of the passing of Diana’s youngest son, Jason Dors Lake at the age of 50.
‘Please join me in offering condolences, thoughts and prayers to Jason’s loved ones and close friends at this time.’
The message added: ‘It is not known how he died but family and friends are said to be shocked at his sudden death.’
Jason was the youngest of Diana’s three sons – his father was actor Alan Lake – and acquired the rights to his mother’s estate following her death in 1984.
He is survived by one daughter Ruby.
Diana was known as the British Marilyn Monroe with her similar bright blonde hair and memorable movie roles.
The actress died on 4 May 1984 at the age of 52 after a battle with ovarian cancer.
Just five months later in October, her husband and Jason’s father committed suicide at the age of 43.
Opening up about his father’s death, Jason said during an appearance on The One Show in 2012: ‘If he hadn’t had done that, I think he would’ve died of a broken heart anyway.
‘I was in shock, it wen beyond tears, it was a numb experience.’
In that same interview, he talked about living by the sea and said: ‘[It’s] dark and stormy, but it’s a bit like my life in a way.’
In 2013, Jason described his childhood as ‘colourful’ and explained how he was ‘exposed to a lot of things at a very young age’.
Speaking to Windsor Express, the actor said: ‘It was crazy and people like actors Richard Harris, and Andrew Ray and The Who drummer Keith Moon would come by.
‘But it was a very happy time and I loved Sunningdale.’
He added of his famous mother: ‘She was such a lovely mother, very down to earth and always warm. With all the things going on she would just ask if people wanted a cup of tea.’
Jason had been open about his battle with alcohol and claimed to have started drinking again after witnessing first-hand the fatal blaze at Grenfell Tower in June 2017.
