Chris Pratt Dubbed ‘Great Father’ by Maria Shriver After ‘Healthy Daughter’ Controversy

The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor is told by his mother-in-law to ‘rise above the noise’ after he revealed that he went to bed ‘upset’ and ‘depressed’ following the backlash.

AceShowbizChris Pratt has found support in Maria Shriver. After being slammed online for his insensitive remarks about his “gorgeous healthy daughter,” his mother-in-law defended him by calling him a “great father.”

“I want to remind you today what a good man you are,” the ex-wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote on Sunday, November 7 on Chris’ post. “What a great father you are to Jack [his son with ex-wife Anna Faris] and Lyla [the daughter he shares with Katherine Schwarzenegger], what a great husband you are to Katherine [and] what a great son in law you are to me and what a great sense of humor you have!!”

Maria then advised her son-in-law, “I love you Chris, keep being your wonderful self, rise above the noise.” The 66-year-old journalist concluded her sweet message as saying, “Your kids love [you], your family loves you [and] your wife loves you. What a beautiful life, I’m proud of you xo.”

Chris landed in hot water after he wrote a sweet tribute to his wife, Katherine. In it, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor praised her and celebrated their “gorgeous healthy daughter” while his son with his ex Anna suffers serious health issues.

“The healthy daughter thing is a bit…considering he has a son with Anna Faris who has disabilities,” one fan pointed out. In the meantime, another wrote, “I love Chris Pratt, but the ‘healthy daughter’ part made me wince.” Chris was also dubbed “cringe and vile.”

Chris and Anna’s 9-year-old son Jack was born premature and underwent numerous operations as a result of his condition. When he was born in 2012, he weighed just 3 pounds and 12 ounces.

Following the backlash, Chris revealed that he went to bed “really kind of upset and depressed” in a video he shared via Instagram Story on November 5. The “Jurassic World” actor added, “I woke up feeling crappy and I didn’t want to work out.”

Chris went on to explain that he was able to overcome the sadness by getting in some physical activity while listening to Christian music. “I knew that if I put on my Christian music playlist and I got out of the woods and ran that I’d feel better but I just didn’t want to and I did it anyways and gosh was I right,” so said “The Tomorrow War” star. “It felt amazing. I got out of the woods, got my blood pumping.”

Chris then advised his fans and followers to try listening to Christian music and getting outside to pull themselves out of their sadness. “If you feel down today, maybe get in an exercise and maybe listen to some good worship music or get the word in ’cause it really helped me this morning,” he said.
