Caroline Flack fears for TV career after she’s charged with assaulting boyfriend

Caroline Flack fears her career is finished after police charged her with assaulting her boyfriend.

ITV execs were scrambling to save her show Love Island following the bust up.

The pint-sized host, 40, is accused of attacking her 6ft 4in lover Lewis Burton, 27.

He called police to the £1million house they share in Islington, North London, at about 5.30am on Thursday.

Officers arrested the TV presenter and later charged her with assault by beating.

Whatever the result, it is feared the case will leave her unable to front the first ever winter series of Love Island, which starts January 8.

A friend said: “Caroline’s terrified she’ll never work in TV again.”

Flack is bailed to appear before Highbury Corner magistrates on December 23 and is meant to fly to South Africa nine
days later.

Bookies yesterday offered odds on who might replace her. Maya Jama, 25, ex-girlfriend of rapper Stormzy, was favourite.Contenders are said to include Inbetweeners actress Emily Atack, 29, and Laura Whitmore , 34.
The drama comes after Caroline trebled her pay with a £3.6million, three-year deal to host summer and winter series of the dating show.

“The timing couldn’t be worse,” said a telly source. “Caroline was due to fly New Year’s Day, with the show starting a week later, but now it’s been thrown into chaos.

“No one knows what will happen so bosses are drawing up contingency plans.

“There have been emergency meetings and talks of replacement presenters.”

Both Flack and her boyfriend needed treatment after the fracas but insiders believe they will stay together.

Paramedics attended to Lewis but he was not badly hurt. Flack had to go to hospital after cutting herself on broken glass.

Last night drops of blood were seen on the front door.

A source said: “Lewis is the one who called police but they still want to stay together.

“They both love each other very much and they’re desperate to make it work.”

The pair got together this summer but were pictured arguing on a swanky yacht in Ibiza in October.

Yesterday ex-tennis player Lewis was seen for the first time since the incident as he left his parents’ luxury home in Sidcup, South East London, in a Range Rover.

He shared a picture of him and Caroline on Instagram with a love heart.

Both Caroline and ITV have declined to comment to the Sunday People.
