Busta Rhymes, Kendrick Lamar Team Up On ‘Look Over Your Shoulder’

Busta Rhymes and Kendrick Lamar teamed up for “Look Over Your Shoulder,” a song from Busta’s album Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, that came out on Friday (October 30).

Lamar released the track and the accompanying lyric video a day ahead of the album’s release.

The song samples “I’ll Be There” by the Jackson 5.

“Yeah, I know, it’s been a minute,” begins Busta, and Lamar joins pretty soon, singing, “I wrote my first bars in the car with Stacey / How bizarre / My battle scars at large would lace me.”

“I need this generation, boy / Don’t argue with us / Marvelous beat selectors, authors and novel spitters / And it’s all for the literature.”

Busta then raps, “Shhhh! Look over your shoulder, get me,” after which Lamar comes back again, “Upholding the fundamentals / While most of you boast a rental /Focus on what’s most essential / Spit bars to provoke your mental / Do I have your entendimiento / While I clap this raps like thunders / Look over your shoulder boy, and wonder.”

The Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God album also features collaborations with Mariah Carey, Rapsody, Chris Rock, Mary J. Blige and a few others.
