Beth Chapman Dies; Reality Star, Wife of Dog the Bounty Hunter Was 51

Sad news out of the world of reality television today.

Beth Chapman — wife of Duane Chapman and former star of the popular A&E series Dog the Bounty Hunter — has passed away following a long battle with throat cancer.

She was just 51 years old.

News of Chapman’s passing was shared by her husband, who tweeted:

“It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain.

“Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.”

Beth was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2017 after going to her doctor to complain of a nagging cough.

She was declared cancer-free after having a tumor removed the following year.

However, it wasn’t long before the cancer returned in particularly aggressive form.

Last week, it was reported that Chapman had been placed in a medically-induced coma and was not expected to recover.

Her children raced to be by her side, and Beth Chapman spent her final days surrounded by loved ones.

She is survived by four children, including daughter Lyssa Chapman, who followed in Beth’s footsteps and recently broke her record for youngest licensed bail bondsman in the country.

Born in Denver, Colorado in 1967, Beth first met Duane when she was just 19.

They dated on and off for over a decade.

Both married other people and started families, but they came back to one another and married in 2006.

Beth helped Duane overcome addiction and turn his fledgling bail bond business into an international success.

Fame unexpectedly came calling not long after the couple tied the knot.

While Dog the Bounty Hunter was canceled by A&E in 2012, a spinoff entitled Dog & Beth: On the Hunt debuted on CMT the following year.

A third series, Dog’s Most Wanted, is set to premiere on WGN in 2020.

The shown will reportedly feature the final scenes that Beth filmed and document her fight for her life.

Our thoughts go out to Beth’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
