Game of Thrones audiobooks: How to listen to special audio chapters from George RR Martin

George RR Martin has told fans he is at home writing the next instalment to the A Song of Ice and Fire series. While fans are still waiting for The Winds of Winter, he has provided some special audiobooks to make sure they can keep up to date with the story. He has been releasing these podcasts a great deal during the lockdown, with each one holding a special twist.

How to listen to A Song of Ice and Fire audiobooks

George RR Martin has been outdoing himself with Game of Thrones content for fans.

Rather than just providing run-of-the-mill audiobooks of his A Song of Ice and Fire series, Martin has instead been sharing audiobooks of specific chapters all from one point of view.

Megafans will know each of the books in the series, beginning with A Game of Thrones, is written from the perspective of different characters, which different chapters seeing specific characters telling their stories, or version of events.

There are many POV (point of view) characters in the series, with the most prominent one being Tyrion Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage in the HBO series Game of Thrones.

So, in order for fans to remember the POVs as they are written, Martin has been releasing special audio snippets of each POV speaking, asking fans to vote on who they want to hear next.

On Martin’s Twitter page, he wrote: “We’re revisiting some of our favourite scenes from the ASoIaF series through the audiobooks!

“Here’s the iconic confrontation scene between Eddard Stark and Cersei Lannister in “A Game of Thrones” for your quarantine listening enjoyment. @PRHAudio

Following this, Martin released a series of polls asking fans to vote on whose POV would be included in upcoming scenes.

The next scene to be released was the A Close Shave chapter from Tyrion Lannister’s perspective from A Clash of Kings.

After this, a further poll was released, and the excerpt from A Storm of Swords was released which heard Arya Stark and The Hound’s fateful encounter at The Inn at the Crossroads, narrated by Roy Dotrice.

At present, a new poll has been released, with Martin asked: “Who should be featured in the next scene that we release from A Feast for Crows? Let @PRHAudio know your choice in the poll below, and try to guess the scene!”

The choice is between Cersei Lannister, Arianne Martell, Jaime Lannister and Samwell Tarly, and the scene will be decided by the audio team.
